The Drawing Tools I Usage

I am frequently asked about the tools I use to make my drawings. Do I use time-honored wood-cased pencils or mechanical ones? What case of eraser do I use? It would appear that many Artists have a captivation (and a vested worry) in the tools and techniques used by other artists... and I'm no different therein respect! So, what tools do I use......

Brushes...

Never brush eraser crumbs or dust off your draught using your hand. Livelihood a brush or ii handy for such jobs so your drawing doesn't absorb oil from your clamber. Pencils...

Both have their individual uses although I be given to use only tortillons - for coarse make for I wrap kitchen paper around my finger and apply that instead. Ne'er use your unprotected finger to blend black lead. The natural oil in your bark will cause graphite to stick to your paper in irregular patches. Erasers...

High TIP

Do non chuck out old stumps and tortillons.
Worn tortillons saturated with black lead can be used as "pencils" in their own right. I often use them to add delicate tone and to randomly chalk out indistinct backgrounds.
